Taking staff wellbeing higher

04 November 2020

Here at Middlesbrough College, our community’s health is our number one priority and it is crucial that our employees feel well supported, especially during these challenging and difficult times- so that’s why we are launching a brand new programme designed to take our staff wellbeing higher!

To continue to look after our team, all staff will be able to access ‘My Health Advantage’. This service seeks to improve mental, physical and financial health by using personal metrics, personalised content and four-week plans to set goals and celebrate achievements.

‘My Health Advantage’ offers industry leading features across 4 key categories:

  • Health and lifestyle
  • Legal information
  • Work life
  • Home life

The programme provides an enhanced set of wellbeing tools including a weekly mood tracker, health charts and personal support. This includes a confidential helpline that is manned 24/7 all year round. Staff can also access 6 face-to-face sessions, telephone calls or online counselling sessions per year. Online help and advice is also available to tackle issues such as alcohol/ drugs, debt, family issues, bereavement, tax, childcare and eldercare advice.

This new programme can be accessed online including via an app on your mobile phone so you can use it anywhere, all year round. The programme also features a monthly calendar of initiatives and activities including money worries, work/life balance, mindfulness and loneliness.

As well as focussing on mental health, the programme also includes mini health checks which cover a host of topics including height, weight, sleep and mental health.

Family members can also access the service free of charge (excluding face to face counselling and legal/financial information services).

We are committed to improving the workplace and our easily accessible and innovative tool will provide support to all staff members at Middlesbrough College all year round.
