Joel Bint at Middlesbrough College

We caught up with Joel Bint, a student at Middlesbrough College studying T Level Surveying and Design for Construction and the Built Environment with the hopes to become an interior architect after University!

Joel began his course in 2021, in the first cohort of construction T Level students at Middlesbrough College. Joel said: “I am thoroughly enjoying my course, so far, the teaching has been excellent, and I have no faults at all. All my tutors have been amazing too, we all get along so well, and they are always about to give a helping hand when you need it.

“I chose this course at Middlesbrough College as I really wanted to get into architecture, and this seemed the best way for me to go, especially having the work experience and practical elements available on a T Level programme. I had done a lot of research about the course contents prior to applying and everything so far has been great. I think it’s the perfect course to do if you are interested in construction or management, I have learnt so much and there are so many paths you can go down once you have gained the qualification.”

Joel has shone brightly at Middlesbrough College and is paving the way for others in Tees Valley who are looking for their next steps into construction management and with a keen interest in architecture. During his time on the course, which he will be completing in July 2023, Joel proudly became the student directorate representative for all construction T Level programmes, acting as a voice for his fellow students.

Joel continues: “After my course, I am hoping to go on to University to study architecture. I have always had a keen interest in architecture, I find it so fascinating and hope to specialise in interior architecture in my future career, as this is what I enjoy the most.

“I think the skills I have learnt on my course are going to help me at University and in my future career. I have been able to complete work placements with 2 different employers, Gradon Architecture and Logic Architecture, which have been helpful in teaching me the way things work in industry and what to expect when I work later in life. I think the work placement part of the T Level course is important, especially for those with little knowledge of working in industry before.”

The T Level construction programmes are a brilliant way to get your foot in the door with local employers and gain the vital industry experience needed to help you excel at University and in future job roles.

We are taking applications for each construction T Level pathway we offer, including T Level Surveying and Design for Construction and the Built Environment. Click here to find out more about T Levels.
