Course: T Level – Digital Support Services (IT Tech Support and Cyber Security) – Level 3
We recently caught up with Ali Yamak, a T Level Digital student at Middlesbrough College!
Ali has just completed his final exam and, with the end of his Level 3 in sight, has already secured an exciting next step in his career.
As part of the T Level programme, students are required to complete 45 days in an industry placement. After impressing his employers, Ali has been offered an apprenticeship with One IT, a tech support company based in Stockton!
Ali said: “I was inspired to pursue a career in IT Security by my brother-in-law, who works in the sector. After learning more about his job, I knew it was something I wanted to be involved in.
“The T Level course has been fantastic. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed learning about the security aspects of IT, including how to stay safe online and the measures that can be implemented to enhance security.
“Kevin Jeffery helped me secure a placement with One IT, based in Stockton, which I started in January. The team at One IT was incredibly welcoming and supportive, making my time there enjoyable.
“Following my work placement, I was thrilled to be offered an apprenticeship at One IT! I’m set to start in June or July and will be working there for about 18 months. Initially, my tasks will be similar to those during my placement, focusing on building and setting up computers and iPads. Over time, I’ll take on larger projects.”
The team at One IT said “Ali has been a pleasure to work with. He is punctual, polite, enthusiastic and has a great work ethic. Ali is flexible and One IT really appreciate the effort he puts in every day. The feedback from technicians and schools has been great.”
“I’ve really appreciated my tutors on the course and had a great time at College. We’ve been on several trips, including a visit to a Cyber Security Company where we toured their offices and learned more about their work. We also visited Flamingo Land!
“After completing my apprenticeship, I’m considering going to University, but I definitely want to continue progressing within the Cyber Security sector.
“My advice for anyone considering a course at Middlesbrough College is to make the most of the experiences and opportunities that come your way. You will learn so much on the course, and it can lead you down various paths.”
