MC Digital at Middlesbrough College has entered the fast-growing world of Esports this year, with newly formed teams already competing in national tournaments run by British Esports. Students have been showcasing their skills against some of the best college and school teams in the country, highlighting the growing potential of Esports as a competitive and career-focused discipline.

With Esports becoming a multi-billion-pound industry, this initiative is not just about gaming—it’s about teamwork, strategy, communication, and digital skills that open doors to future careers in technology, media, and business. The college’s commitment to Esports is providing students with the opportunity to compete, develop professional skills, and gain industry experience in one of the most exciting sectors today.

New Level 3 BTEC in Esports Launching September 2025

Building on the success of its competitive teams, MC Digital is launching a Level 3 BTEC in Esports this September. This innovative course will give students hands-on experience in esports management, computer networking and cyber security, social networking, content creation, and digital marketing—all essential skills for careers in the wider esports industry and beyond.

“This is an exciting time for our students,” said Nicola Loughran, Associate Director MC Digital. “We’ve already seen incredible talent and dedication in our competitive teams, and now we’re offering a pathway for students to turn their passion into a future career.”

MC Digital is now accepting applications for the ESports course starting in September. Students interested in joining this exciting new program can apply now to secure their place.
