Hair and Beauty Pathways explained
Hairdressing and barbering are all about cutting, styling, and looking after hair. Hairdressers usually work with all hair types and offer services like colouring, blow-drying, and styling, while barbers often focus on shorter hair and offer fades, beard trims, and shaves.
You’ll learn how to use tools like scissors and clippers, understand what clients want, and keep everything clean and professional. It’s a great career choice if you’re creative, enjoy working with people, and want a hands-on job that helps others feel confident.
Beauty therapy is all about helping people look and feel their best through treatments for the skin, nails, and body. It includes things like facials, manicures, pedicures, waxing, massage, and makeup. You’ll learn how to use professional products and tools, understand skin and body care, and give clients a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
It’s a great choice if you enjoy working with people, being creative, and helping others feel confident and cared for.
Hair and media makeup is all about creating looks for TV, film, theatre, fashion, and photography. It combines hairstyling and makeup skills to transform people for different roles, characters, or styles. You’ll learn how to work with wigs, special effects makeup, and creative designs for everything from everyday looks to dramatic transformations.
It’s a great choice if you’re artistic, enjoy working with people, and want to be part of exciting industries like entertainment and fashion.
