Diploma in Barbering – Level 2

Modules include:

• Working in the barbering industry
• Follow health and safety in the salon
• Client consultation for hair services
• Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp
• Promote products and services to clients in a salon
• Colour and lighten hair
• Cut men’s hair
• Cut men’s facial hair
• Create an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector
• Display stock to promote sales in the salon
• Salon reception duties
• Blow dry men’s hair
  

September – June

You must have achieved four GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or above, including maths and English language and/or appropriate Level 1 qualification.

You will be assessed through online exams, assignments and continuous formative and summative practical assessments throughout the year.

You are required to complete 50 Hours of work experience in a Barber shop of your choice.

After completing a Level 2 Barbering Qualification, you can progress onto Level 3 Barbering, this will allow you to expand your career opportunities in the industry.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home-fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

All full-time students will be offered a number of options to secure at least 10 days of meaningful work experience during the year. This is an important aspect of the course and will help to develop your skills to get a job, progress to a higher level qualification at Middlesbrough College or potentially gain a place at university.
