This course is perfect for barbers and/or hairstylists looking to advance their skills and careers within Barbering.

This course enhances expertise in cutting men’s hair and facial hair into various styles, advancing clipper and scissor techniques.

You will also upskill within wet shaving techniques using cutthroat razor and massage.
This course may include 9.00am start times and a late night. Learners will also complete external work placement in a Barbershop of your choice.

Modules to include:

Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon.
Hairdressing consultation support for colleagues
Cut men’s hair to create a variety of looks
Cut facial hair to create a variety of looks
Provide shaving and face massage services

You must have achieved an appropriate Level 2 qualification and pass a trade test.

You will be assessed through online exams, assignments and continuous formative and summative practical assessments on real clients throughout the year.

You are required to complete 50 hours work experience in a Barbershop of your choice.

After completing a Level 3 Barbering Qualification, you can progress to senior barber roles, open your own barbershop, or become a freelance barber. You may also explore advanced courses or specialist grooming services, expanding your career opportunities in the industry.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home-fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

All full-time students will be offered a number of options to secure at least 10 days of meaningful work experience during the year. This is an important aspect of the course and will help to develop your skills to get a job, progress to a higher-level qualification at Middlesbrough College or potentially gain a place at university.

At Middlesbrough College, you will be trained by experienced tutors, learning the skills and techniques to carry out high quality treatments in one of seven professionally equipped hair and beauty salons on-site.
