Principal's Welcome
At Middlesbrough College , our focus is to equip you with the skills and training to progress into your chosen career.
It’s a fantastic time to join the Middlesbrough College. We boast excellent achievement rates for vocational courses and for apprenticeships. Over 90% of our students got into their first-choice university, and over 20% of students got into Sutton Trust universities such as Leeds, Manchester, York, Newcastle and Durham. In 2026, we have seen an 8.5% increase in the number of students being placed compared with last year!
Over 50% of our A Level students achieved high grades and we are proud of our T Level students who achieved a 99% overall T Level pass rate with 72% achieving high grades! More than half of learners completing a two-year BTEC vocational qualification also achieved high grades.
We’re a College that is unique to the region, delivering courses in every occupational sector area and at every level, from entry level all the way through to Level 6 qualifications.
This means that whether you have lots of qualifications or none, we believe you are capable of doing great things. Whether you are a school leaver, a potential apprentice, an adult looking to retrain or improve their career prospects or are interested in degree-level study, we have a course for you.
Although many of our students live in the Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool and Redcar areas, we have students travelling from all across the region including Northallerton, Darlington and Whitby. We are a proud to be a college for our community and I often describe us ‘a world under one roof’, with people from all backgrounds and ages studying and working together in a vibrant, positive environment.
Our fantastic student benefits package makes further education fully accessible to everyone, with free public transport, laptop loan scheme, reduced food costs, help with course materials and even cash bursaries being made available to those who need it most.
We are a positive and ambitious college, with a strategy to continue to expand our offer and invest in our £120m campus. Since relocating to Middlehaven in 2008, we have continued to develop our outstanding facilities including our sixth form centre, MC Sixth Form, Digital Centre, Construction centre, purpose built University Centre and £20m STEM Engineering Centre.
TTE, is part of the Middlesbrough College and is an internationally renowned provider of technical training and consultancy services focusing on vocational education in the engineering, energy, and advanced manufacturing sectors. We are proud to be expanding our campus in 2024 with the addition of TTE Training Centre. The new state of the art £12m facility opened in September 2024 and trains school leavers, apprentices, adults, employers and international students.
Our apprenticeship and training company, Northern Skills, works with over 2,000 employers in the North East and Yorkshire delivering over 100 types of programmes. We are in the top 10% for apprenticeships and our experienced team have train over 1,500 apprentices each year, putting us in a strong position to help shape the economic landscape of the region. In 2026, we rebranded Northern Skills, and it now operates as MC Apprenticeships & Training.
We are proud to be partnered with The Open University, bringing affordable degree study to students across the Tees Valley. The Open University shares our ambition to deliver flexible learning that equips students with the skills and knowledge that employers need. It means that we can offer job-focused, shorter in duration and more cost-effective higher education at our dedicated University Centre.
