“During my final year of College, I did consider going to University and I had applied to a few to study sport, but I was never 100% sure on the idea. I then started looking into other options to get into the sport industry, which is when I spotted a vacancy for my current role at Middlesbrough College as a FA Women’s Football Development Officer. Once I read the job description, I knew this was the perfect role for me and I applied straight away.
“Sport has always been a big part of my life whether I’m playing it or coaching, I love everything about it! I coach children aged 4 – 14 at the local soccer school in Whitby and it’s amazing to see them develop their skills and go on to do great things.
“My favourite thing about working at Middlesbrough College is being involved in the development of women’s football and essentially starting something from scratch. They just recently played their first 11 aside game together in a league match and I can’t wait to see how the Women’s Football Academy develops and grows over the next few years!
“I would recommend working at Middlesbrough College to anyone! You feel so welcome here and you meet some fantastic people. As an apprentice I’ve found it so valuable working with colleagues who have so much knowledge about the industry, they are always more than happy to work with me and teach me new things.
“In my spare time I play a lot of football and cricket, I currently play for Sunderland Women U23s, and I play cricket for Yorkshire Women’s 1st Team. I’m a big Sunderland FC fan and I have a season ticket, so when I’m not competing or training, I love going to watch them play. I also love spending time with my family going on walks and catching up between my busy schedule!”
