What is ROOTS Academy?
Roots Academy is a supportive, 24 weeks course that offers new beginnings to 16-18 year olds. The course allows individuals to complete their functional skills maths and English, but can also add value in so many new avenues.
Themed weeks encourage learners to dive deep into topics such as career exploring, stress management, life skills such as cooking and CV building. Not only will learners be supported throughout their time with us, but will continue to be supported upon completion, until they have found full time training, employment, or an apprenticeship.
· Maths and English Functional Skills – Develop your skills for everyday life, such as budgeting, paying bills and cooking.
· Career Exploration – Build your CV and explore career paths into Construction, Hair & Beauty, Customer Service or Health & Social Care.
· Key Life Skills – Break down confidence barriers, learn stress management, make a difference with social action projects and so much more.
Progression Opportunities
On successful completion of the programme, there are a range of opportunities to progress onto in an out of the College. These opportunities branch specifically into Construction, Hair and Beauty, Customer Service and Health and Social Care.
These include:
· Employment opportunities – receive specialist support from the team to apply for jobs in the region.
· Further training – we have a range of full and part-time courses available for students to apply for across all sector areas.
· Apprenticeships – Northern Skills have a range of apprenticeship vacancies available and team can offer support with applications and interview preparation.
