Date: Wednesday 17th February 2027
Time: 1.00pm – 4.00pm
Location: Middlesbrough College Main Building, Dock Street, Middlesbrough, TS2 1AD
Specifically designed for learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), our SEN Welcome Event provides the opportunity to explore Middlesbrough College in a calm, supportive environment, helping to reduce anxiety and build confidence ahead of starting college.
Held during the college half-term holidays, when the campus is much quieter, the event offers a relaxed introduction with less hustle and bustle from students and staff. Prospective learners and their families can meet our SEN specialists and members of the Additional Learning Support (ALS) team — the staff who will support you throughout your time at Middlesbrough College.
You’ll have the opportunity to explore the college buildings and visit different curriculum areas at your own pace, alongside your family, friends, or carers. This early introduction helps many learners become familiar with the college environment before attending larger events and meeting wider curriculum teams, making the transition into college feel more comfortable and less overwhelming.
Representatives from Local Authority SEND teams and other specialist support services may also be available, providing additional information, advice and guidance to support you in planning your next steps.
Throughout the event, our team will be on hand to answer your questions, discuss the support available at Middlesbrough College, and provide guidance on future transition events and opportunities that will help you prepare for college life.
