Event overview
Whatever your educational need, Middlesbrough College is committed to helping you achieve your future ambitions.
Our SEN Open Event with Curriculum Support is designed for Year 11 learners with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and/or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), together with their parents, carers and guardians. This dedicated event provides a calmer, more accessible alternative to a traditional college open event, allowing learners to explore college life in a quieter environment and helping to reduce anxiety around the transition from school to further education.
Date: Wednesday 28th April 2027
Time: 4.00pm to 6.30pm
Location: Middlesbrough College Main Building, Dock Street, Middlesbrough, TS2 1AD
During the event, you will have the opportunity to find out more about Middlesbrough College’s wide range of progression routes, including our specialist Inclusive Learning provision, featuring tailored Preparation for Adulthood pathways, Supported Internships and Vocational Steps to Industry Skills programmes.
Our Additional Learning Support (ALS) Team will be available throughout the event to provide guidance, answer questions and discuss transitioning from school to college, the consultation process, and individual support planning. You will also be able to meet curriculum staff to explore course options, learning opportunities, progression pathways and the support available across the College.
Unlike our larger open events, this dedicated SEND event is designed to be much quieter, with fewer visitors, creating a more relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Learners and their families can take their time to explore, ask questions and begin building confidence ahead of their next steps in education.
Whether you are looking for a specialist Inclusive Learning programme for students with complex learning difficulties, or additional in-class support alongside a vocational course, Middlesbrough College offers a wide range of tailored provision to help you achieve your goals.
Representatives from Local Authority SEND teams and other specialist support services may also attend, providing access to additional information, advice and guidance to help you make informed decisions about your future.
Places must be booked in advance, and attendees will be asked to complete a short online information form during registration.
While learners with SEND or an EHCP are welcome to attend any of our open events, this dedicated SEND event offers a quieter, more personalised experience specifically designed for learners with SEND/EHCP and their families.
We look forward to welcoming you to Middlesbrough College and supporting you on your next step towards a successful future.
Please note: Only one ticket is required per learner/family.
