Retrain Diploma in Site Carpentry – Level 2

Modules offered may vary.

Modules include:

• Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction
• Principles of Building Construction, Information and Communication
• Carry Out First Fix Flooring and Roofing
• Carry Out First Fix Frames, Partitions and Stairs
• Carry Out Second Fixing Operations
• Carry Out Carpentry Maintenance
• Set Up and Operate a Circular Saw

This is a 34 week course, studied between September to June.

Learners will be in college for 12 hours per week.

Days and times will be dependent on the learner groups and can be discussed during the application process with the course leader.

You must have achieved four GCSE at Grade 3 (D) or above including maths, English language and science.

You should also have a Level 1 qualification in a relevant trade area.

Progressing learners must also have a Level 1 Functional Skills in maths.

On-going assessment will take place throughout the course with a strong emphasis on practical skills.

There are also a number of short theory paper based tests and a multiple choice on-line exam linked to one of the theory units delivered.

Successful completion will further enhance your employability skills and gives you the opportunity to progress to Level 3.

Depending on your personal circumstances, you may also be eligible for free funding or financial support, subject to evidence being provided.

Please note: some retrain courses share classes with our full-time students. In these cases, we must give places to 16-18 year olds first, as they are required to stay in education. If there are any places left during enrolment, we may be able to offer you a place.
