Lila Richardson

Level 1 Art & Design student Lila Richardson entered the MIMA & Teesside University ‘Great Create’ competition and her work has been selected to be in the exhibition at MIMA and she received a Highly Commended Award for her artwork. Lila created a piece of work based on the Japanese manga series and television series JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, which she became a fan of during lockdown.

She said: “My teacher brought the competition to my attention and I decided to apply for it. I’ve put in so much hard work and spent a lot of time on this piece so I’m very happy to receive this award.

“I’m really enjoying the course so far, Middlesbrough College stood out to me when I was looking at Colleges in the area as the art course involves all of my favourite aspects such as drawing and realism.

“I’ve settled into the College well and made some really good friends, the staff are so friendly, and I feel well supported by them. I love the range of projects I am given, especially when I get the chance to draw people as that’s what I’m passionate about.”
