Hollie Millward completed her Level 2 and Level 3 Beauty therapy qualifications at Middlesbrough College and has now secured employment at Rockcliffe Hall after doing a work placement with them.

She said, “I decided to come to Middlesbrough College because when I attended an Open Event I was really impressed by the facilities.

“I’ve really enjoyed the course here, you get the chance to try out lots of different aspects of beauty therapy and I have found a passion for massage therapy.

“When the opportunity came up at Rockcliffe Hall, my lecturer Leigh encouraged me to go for it and I’m so glad I did! My time at College has prepared me for working in the industry and I’m looking forward to continuing to build on my skills and experience in beauty therapy within a spa setting. One day I’d love to take my career to international waters and work on a cruise ship.”

Treatment Manager at Rockcliffe Hall, Sarah Usher, knows all too well how important it is to ensure students get their foot in the door through industry-based training opportunities like work placements.

She said, “I left College with a Level 2 qualification and started as a junior therapist progressing onto therapist. Now I’m the Treatment Manager and I head up a team of 26 people within the Spa.

“At Rockcliffe Hall Spa around 95% of our workforce come straight from college courses. We pride ourselves on being able to deliver additional training in the workplace to a five-star standard and we’re always looking for new ways to offer industry-based training opportunities.

“However long students are with us, whether they continue in employment with us after their course or progress somewhere else, it is very rewarding to know that you have been a part of their journey.”
