Eve Gowing
We caught up with alumni student Eve who is now progressing into her final year of her Production Design for Stage and Screen degree at The Northern School of Art.
Eve said: “I really enjoyed studying at Middlesbrough College. I studied the Mix it up programme which allowed me to combine A Levels with a BTEC. I didn’t know what I wanted to do when I was at College, so this unique combination allowed me to keep my options open and study the subjects that I enjoyed. I would recommend this route to any school leavers who are unsure about their next steps. The range of subjects the College offers is amazing and was the main reason why I decided to come and study at Middlesbrough College.
“As I studied a variety of courses, I was able to study both at the Sixth Form Centre and the main College building which was great. The facilities are excellent, and the College has a professional environment that allowed me to make the most out of my studies. I also made lots of friends across my courses and I’m part of different friendship groups because of that.
“We had the opportunity to go on a trip to the Northern School of Art to find out more about their degree programmes when I was studying my A Level in Art & Design at the College. I love Teesside and didn’t want to move away from home, and I really enjoyed the experience, so I decided to apply for their Foundation Art course. I have now progressed to the degree in Production Design for Stage and Screen and I’m about to start my final year.
“I had the best tutors at Middlesbrough College and alongside the Careers Team, they supported me with my application to University. I am grateful to the College for supporting and believing in me and I would 100% recommend coming to study at Middlesbrough College!
“I’m excited for the future and one day I would love to own my own business. My career goal is to open my own art therapy shop where I will host a variety of art workshops and themed nights. I am the activities officer at University for the Student Union and have found a real passion for events management, so I would love to continue to do this in the future. I would also love to stay and work in Teesside. I love Teesside- why would I want to move away when I can stay and make a difference to the area that I enjoy living in!?”
