Emily Baxter
Middlesbrough College alumni student Emily Baxter is enjoying success in her new role at Frozen the Musical in the London West End production!
Emily, who studied Level 3 Production Arts at Middlesbrough College in 2017, was successful in gaining a place at the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) to study Technical Production in Stage and Screen. Now, she has landed her first job since graduating, working as a Production Technician for the Disney smash hit musical at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
Emily said: “I’m thrilled to be working as a Production Technician for Frozen the Musical! The show is still in rehearsal stages but we are opening in August which is so exciting!
“So far the set looks incredible and there is so much video and Disney magic used throughout the show, which will definitely amaze audiences. I’m a big Disney fan and getting to work on such a renowned show is a pleasure- I’m so grateful to be here.
“I absolutely loved studying at Middlesbrough College. All the tutors were super friendly and approachable. I would like to thank my tutor Claire Teesdale who was a huge support to me during my time at College- I wouldn’t be where I am today without her.
“I would 100% recommend this course to anyone who is interested in pursuing a career in live events and entertainment. I was so prepared for the next step at University and for work too. Throughout the course at College I learnt about every aspect of live events, this included stage management, lighting, sound and construction. I was given practical, hands on experience in the course and was involved in the College live shows too. Studying at Middlesbrough College really felt like I was training for a job rather than just studying towards a qualification.
“The facilities at the College are also excellent and everywhere feels spacious and open. It was fantastic to be able to study in a working theatre that has the equipment and space that you get in industry.
“After completing the course at College I had amazing knowledge about the industry and decided to pursue a career in technical theatre. My career is just getting started but I’m so excited for the future! I would love to travel on world tours and design the lighting for large scale shows and musicals.
“Thank you Middlesbrough College for helping me to get to where I want to be, I’ve gained skills, made great friends and progressed my career.”
