“I am really enjoying my T Levels course! I’ve gained so many industry skills since starting which will really help me going forward in my career in care.
“My teachers have all been so helpful and supportive during my time here, they have so much knowledge on the subject and are more than happy to sit down with you and talk over any units you might be struggling with, I could not have done any of this without them.
“The units we cover in our lessons are relevant to industry which means you have knowledge of the job before you have even started your placement. I particularly enjoyed the nutrition unit we studied and I got to put my knowledge to the test when on placement as we have a lot of residents with special dietary requirements.
“For my placement I was based at Poplars Care Home in Thornaby and it has been fantastic getting to know the staff and the residents. In April I was offered a permanent job with them which I was so happy to accept.
“There is a good balance between placement hours and college work and I could even fit it all in around my part time job at Matalan.
“I had a few friends who studied at Middlesbrough College and they always had positive things to say so when I was looking at colleges, I decided to check it out during an Open Event and I was sold straight away! The facilities stood out to me and the college itself had such a warm and welcoming feel to it.
“I would recommend a T Level to someone, especially if you know what career path you want to go down. I have gained valuable industry knowledge which has given me an advantage and will set me up for any jobs I apply to in the future.”
