Overview

Stage 1 – On programme on and off job training min 12 months 

  • Continual development of skills through observations, working within the workplace and with an experienced assessor/mentor to gain knowledge and understanding of the industry, the people, the customers and the business
  • Knowledge and understanding (theory) will be assessed through questioning and discussion
  • Professionalism, behaviours, values, communication and safe working practices will be embedded into the qualification and on programme assessment

Stage 2 - Gateway stage

  • Full completion of practical assessments showing competence in all units
  • Achievement of all theory exams
  • Achieved the required level of Maths and English – GCSE grade C or above
  • Achieved Maths and English Level 1 functional skills, progressing on to L2 FS including exam
  • Apprentice is required to have shown evidence of the relevant skills, knowledge and behaviours as set out in the standard.

Entry requirements

  • Employment in a suitable role for the chosen apprenticeship is essential. Northern Skills Group will work with applicants to help find a suitable employer where possible but we advise anyone looking to undertake an apprenticeship to actively seek employment for themselves.
  • Applicants are required to have gained a Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE Grades A-C). Certificates will need to be produced at enrolment. If proof cannot be produced or you do not meet these entry requirements then applicants will be invited to complete an initial assessment prior to acceptance. An interview will take place.
  • If you do not have a grade A to C in English and / or maths (grade 7-4 for new GCSE measures) you will be required to continue studying these subjects.

  • The learner will be assessed on their competence of practical skills by a 3 hour observation in their working environment by an independent assessor.
  • On demand test, a 90 minute multi choice test comprising of several scenario based questions.
  • Business project, completion of a project looking at an idea/opportunity to make improvements to the business. It will require a research phase and will be presented to
    Professional Discussion, this will consist of a 40-minute structured meeting. The discussion will focus on the skills and knowledge gained on the programme.
  • The end point will be graded accordingly and on successful completion an Apprenticeship certificate will be awarded.
