Middlesbrough College Student Union
What’s the Student Union?
Our Student Union was set-up to make sure you have the best experience possible at College! The Student Voice and Student Union Executive Team lead it. We listen to your suggestions and concerns and ask the College Management Team to make changes. Middlesbrough College Student Union also organises events, clubs, volunteering and socials for students to get involved in. It’s a great way to meet new friends and leave college with an impressive CV!
Student Executive Team
The Student Union Team is made up of our Student President and Student Union Executive officers. These are current students who are keen to have specific roles and responsibilities within our Student Union and take the lead on specific events and activities. These positions are elected by the student body each academic year.
Olivia-Rose Manners
Student President
Taylor Edgcombe
Vice Student President and Governor
Le-Roy Ayitey
Equality and Diversity Officer
KJ Nolan-Moore
Health and Wellbeing Officer
Jerom Dan Saji
Anti-bullying Officer
You don’t have to be part of the Student Union Team to get involved or support activities; each Officer will need help creating content and generating ideas so if you’re passionate about something and would love to be part of the team email us at T.Courtman-Stock@mbro.ac.uk.
Student Council
The best way to have your voice heard on important topics, specific to college life, is through joining the Student Council. You are able to become a class and directorate representative and from here, go on to be Student President if you wish. These students attend class rep meetings and cross-college meetings and share the views of their peers with senior management. The Student President and Vice President chair the meetings and feedback and forth information to the Student Union Executive Team. All class reps are invited to a Student Leaders Conference to ensure you have the skills to articulate your views and confidently speak in public, these are invaluable skills to take with you into employment.

Freshers Festival
We start every year with a welcoming Freshers Festival where we showcase the support on offer to students throughout the year from internal and external services. You can sign up to clubs and societies, get advice and guidance or take part in any of the fun activities going on such as the bucking bronco, exotic animal encounters, photobooth and free food and discounts from local shops and restaurants.
Wellbeing & Fundraising
We have a calendar of events that we run each year in line with awareness days, weeks and months, such as Anti-bullying Week, Wear it red day, sexual health awareness week, pride month etc. These are supported and developed with the SU Executive Team and ensure students are up to date with the latest knowledge to keep your mind and body safe and healthy! In conjunction with this, we also run a “Question of the Week” to get you thinking and debating on current topics.
We fundraise for different charities and organisations throughout the year such as Children in Need, Cancer Research UK and Save the Children. Keep an eye out for posters and emails as well as updates from the Executive Team and Council members.
Student Ambassadors
We’re looking for students who want to go above and beyond and support College events and activities such as open evenings and award ceremonies. It’s the perfect opportunity to gain new skills, develop your confidence and represent the College.
