Security Academy

Course content:

• Level 1 Occupational Studies
• Level 1 Personal Development in Employability
• Emergency First Aid at Work
• SIA Level 2 Door Supervisor
• Level 2 Spectator Safety (optional)
• CCTV (optional)

Various start dates available.

Monday – Friday, 9:30am – 3.30pm, for 2 weeks at 2 Queen’s Square

Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm for 7 days at Close Protection Security NE LTD (Door Supervisor)

If a learner wishes to complete Spectator Safety, they will need to complete 8 further days (which includes 2 live assessments and 1 additional day for questioning).

If a learner wishes to complete CCTV, they will need to computer a further 3 days (0.5 day is the exam).

• Applicants must be aged 19+
• Must be a Tees Valley resident
• Must bring proof of benefit to enrolment session
• Applicants who have not lived in the UK or EU since birth must bring proof of residency, e.g. passport (3 years old) or residence permit
• SIA badge will require further ID. This will be discussed at enquiry.
• Hold or be working at a Level 1 English standard (to enrol to Door Supervisor, Spectator Safety or CCTV elements)

Learners will be assessed through a portfolio of work, a practical assessment and observation, and an exam.

Learners will receive an interview upon successful completion of the course with CP Security.  We also work with several other security companies, if the learners are unsuccessful, we will continue to work with them to support them into employment. 

Individuals must be aged 19 or over, unemployed or employed and earning under £33,210 per annum to receive full funding.

Learners will meet the employer whilst training with Middlesbrough College. 

The learners will also have an insight into the role whilst at CP Security, they deliver the SIA training element on our behalf and are also an employer of security staff. 

Note: For the Spectator Safety (optional element of the course) learners are required to complete two work experience days, which are mandatory to complete this element of the course, learners will be required to provide their own uniform.  

This should consist of: 

• Smart white shirt – preferably long sleeved 
• Smart black trousers or smart black cargo trousers 
• Smart black shoes or work books (non steel toe cap) 
• (black clip on tie – this will be provided by the college however it will need to be returned at the end of the shift)
