Science Manufacturing Process Operative Apprenticeship – Level 2

Duties may include:

• Prepare materials for process activities.
• Perform pre-start equipment checks.
• Monitor processes and address issues.
• Conduct quality checks and report concerns.
• Perform or escalate first-line maintenance tasks.
• Participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving.
• Complete digital or paper process records.
• Maintain a clean work area.
• Conduct changeover or clean-down activities.
• Finish, pack, discharge, or move goods at the end of the process.

Apprenticeships begin when an apprentice starts their role in the workplace. Throughout the programme, they will gain hands-on experience while learning on the job. In addition, apprentices attend a dedicated study day each week through classroom-based learning at Middlesbrough College.

Employment in a role relevant to your chosen apprenticeship is essential. Our Apprenticeships and Training team will support applicants in finding suitable employment where possible; however, we strongly encourage anyone interested in an apprenticeship to actively seek employment opportunities independently.

Applicants are normally required to hold English and Maths at Grade 4 or above. Evidence of these qualifications must be provided at enrolment. If you are unable to produce certificates or do not meet these entry requirements, you will be invited to complete an initial assessment as part of the application process.

All applicants will be required to attend an interview.

If you do not already hold the required Level 2 qualification in English and/or Maths, you will be required to continue studying these subjects alongside your apprenticeship.
