This programme has been developed to provide learners with an in-depth understanding of the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed when working with children, young people and adults in a school or college environment. The learner will complete 16 mandatory units over the duration the course. The content will develop all aspects of specialist support for learners when working alongside the teacher. These will include planning, delivering and the reviewing of assessment strategies, behaviour management, communication and creating positive relationships, supporting EAL students, special educational needs and disability support, personal development and reflective practice.
Learners will develop their knowledge and understanding of how schools and colleges are structured, the legislation, guidance, policies and procedures and how these are promoted in the setting to keep children and young people healthy, safe and secure. Learners will develop their skills within their learning environment (employment or placement) which will be observed.
