History is about more than simply knowing what happened in the past. It is about exploring why societies change, why individuals and governments make the decisions they do, and how historians continue to debate the causes and consequences of major events.
Our A Level History course takes you from post-war Britain to the dramatic transformation of Russia under Peter the Great and Catherine the Great, as well as giving you the opportunity to investigate the Witch Craze of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Through these topics, you will explore political, social, economic and cultural change across very different periods and societies.
You will also develop the skills needed to think and write like an A Level historian: analysing primary sources, evaluating historians’ interpretations, weighing competing explanations and constructing well-supported historical arguments.
