Foundation Certificate in Digital Systems and Data – Level 2

• Clean, interpret and visualise a dataset in order to answer a question and communicate findings clearly
• Configure and secure digital systems by applying access, authentication and configuration measures
• Plan, develop and test a programming solution in order to meet a brief
• Plan and configure hardware and software components in order to deliver a functional digital system
• Select and apply reliable digital sources to produce evidence-based recommendations for an intended purpose

This is a 1 year course studied September – June, with potential exams/coursework hand in dates/extra sessions in July.

At least three GCSEs at Grade 3 or above. You can also progress onto this course once you have achieved an appropriate Level 1 qualification.

Learners who have not achieved Grade 4 or above in GCSE English language and/or maths will have these subjects added to the timetable.

This qualification will be assessed through a mixture of coursework and exam-based assessments.

Following successful completion of this course, learners can progress to a relevant Level 3 study programme.

Learners will require access to a PC/laptop that has Windows 11, internet access and USB ports.

We also recommend an 8 – 16 GB RAM, SSD, ability to install/use software and administrator access for staff-managed practical environments where appropriate.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home-fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st of August before the start of your course.

All full-time students will be offered a number of options to secure at least 10 days of meaningful work experience during the year. This is an important aspect of the course and will help to develop your skills to get a job, progress to a higher level qualification at Middlesbrough College or potentially gain a place at university.
