The Certificate in Education is a professional teacher education programme that will qualify you to teach in the post-14 education sector, e.g., further education colleges, adult and community settings and training providers. The course is designed to meet the ETF Professional Standards and will equip you with a toolkit to teach within the post-14 educator sector. The qualification is open to those who hold a Level 3 qualification in their intended subject specialism

• You must have a Level 3 qualification or higher in your intended subject specialism
• You must have a GCSE Grade 4 (C) or equivalent in English and Maths.
• You must provide documentation to apply for an enhanced DBS (Provided as early as practicable to secure placement)
• You must be able to provide 2 references (Provided as early as practicable to secure placement)
• You must have a subject specialist placement which provides at least 150 hours of teaching practice over the duration of the course, and 100 hours of wider professional practice activities.
• You must have a subject specialist mentor to support the development of your pedagogical content knowledge.

You will be assessed through presentations, observation of teaching practice and a reflective journal.

On completion of this course, you will have a Certificate in Education which will allow you to gain employment in the post-14 education sector.
