Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science) – Level 3

You will study 60 credit to achieve the overall diploma, this consists of various modules:

6 Credits of:

• Infection and Immunity
• Organic Chemistry
• Conducting a Science Project

3 Credits of:

• Chemistry of Pollution
• Exponentials, Logarithms, Trigonometry and Series
• Genetic Inheritance
• Human Circulation and Gas Exchange
• Human Musculoskeletal System
• Kinetics, Energetics and Acid-Base Equilibria
• Moles, Equations and Acids
• Numerical Analysis of Statistical Data
• Practical Science skills
• Thermodynamics
• Waves and Optics
• Academic Writing Skills
• Atoms, Bonds and Structure
• Cells

September – June. Students will study 3 days per week, between 9am – 5pm.

GCSE English and maths and Scienceat grade C (4)

The minimum requirement for both English and mathsis a Level 2 qualification.

Applicants must be aged 18+.

Assessment is designed to prepare learners for the full range of assessment methods they will experience at university including practical lab work, presentations, written assignments, posters and online elements.

This qualification will provide you with a range of transferable skills allowing you to progress onto a range of our HE courses.

Past students have progressed onto a range of degree programmes at Middlesbrough College including the BEng (Hons) Engineering, Fd/BSc (Hons) Computing and the Fd/BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy with Rehabilitation.

Our past students have also progressed to psychology, biomedical sciences, marine biology, chemistry, diagnostic radiography, dentistry, dietetics and forensic science.

The College Careers Service is available to all our students. We can help you when deciding which course or option you wish to take. During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into higher education. When applying for university we can provide support with the UCAS application and Student Finance.

You may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

Advanced Learner Loan: If you are aged 19-23 and this is not your first full Level 3 qualification or you are aged 24 or over on the start date of the course, you will have to pay fees. However, you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. You can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan from Student Finance England (SFE) to fund all or part of the fee.
