Tiba Talib
We caught up with alumni student Tiba who has progressed to University after completing her Access to HE Diploma in Business with us!
Tiba said: “I studied at Middlesbrough College for 3 years and enjoyed the whole experience. My first year at the College was very challenging and tough, because English isn’t my first language, and I didn’t speak or understand English very well. However, I’m grateful to the College for supporting me and encouraging me, and I progressed to the Level 2 Business course. I was delighted when I passed my GCSE English, and I was so proud to win ‘Business Student of The Year’ at the annual student awards ceremony!
“I continued at the College and studied the Level 3 Access to Higher Education Diploma in Business and enjoyed studying the course. I successfully completed my qualification with a distinction grade and I’m now studying for a degree in Business Management at Teesside University’s International Business School!
“I would recommend studying at Middlesbrough College. The College atmosphere is very diverse, inclusive and full of respect.
“The tutors at Middlesbrough College are extremely knowledgeable, encouraging, understanding and they always go that extra mile to help students achieve their ambitions.
“My career goal is to become a business manager, and thanks to the skills I have learnt whilst studying my business qualifications at the College, I’m now one step closer to fulfilling my dream. I took many leading roles in projects during my studies at the College and had the responsibility and experience of managing teams. I would love to progress to a management position in the future.
“I believe that the Access to HE Diploma I studied at Middlesbrough College provided me with the understanding of the business industry, as well as introducing and preparing me for the University environment. On the Access course my skillset developed, I learnt about referencing, meeting deadlines, plagiarism, presenting skills and academic writing, which is helping me with my University assignments now!
“During my time at College, I made a lot of friends and got to meet new, like-minded people. I also had the opportunity to complete volunteer work with Helping Hands Charity which I really enjoyed.
“The College also had a vibrant Student Union, and I had the opportunity to take part in a range of cultural events and an amazing event for International Women’s Day. I also took part in a video that was presented to all students around the College to promote diversity and inclusion. I’m so grateful that I had the chance to be part of this.
“The College has amazing facilities, the library facilities and team are very helpful and useful, and the library is equipped with good computers, printers, thousands of books, eBooks, journals, a multi faith room, and a very friendly team that are always available to advise and help students in the library.”
