We caught up with Level 3 Personal Training student, Rohan Brown!
Rohan first joined Middlesbrough College on our Mix it Up programme, where he studied a combination of A Level Business, A Level Biology and BTEC Sport. However, as he progressed through his studies, he realised his love for personal training and decided that the Level 2 Gym Instructing course was a better fit for his career goals.
Now, as a Level 3 Personal Training student, Rohan is learning the skills to work in the fitness industry. He said: “I thought about what I wanted to get out of College and decided that the Personal Training programme was better for me. I’m learning about anatomy, nutrition, and business, which will be great for my future career.”
Rohan is already starting to make a name in the industry, having gained a Gym Instructor position at Gym 22. He said: “I met the owner of Gym 22 at different College events, so the course has definitely given me a head start in my career. I want to keep working as a Gym Instructor and use the skills I’ve gained at College to start my own PT business.”
Rohan is just as dedicated to fitness outside of his studies! He said: “I’ve always been interested in health and fitness, but I got more passionate about it when I turned 14. I started looking into Strong Man competitions and realised it was something I wanted to work towards.
“It’s been really great to use the knowledge I gained on the course to train and prepare for competitions. I recently competed in Teesside’s Strongest Man and, even though I didn’t have as much experience as the other competitors, I came 6th place out of 11.
“No matter how big or small my Strong Man career is, it’ll benefit me as a Personal Trainer. I’ll be able to coach people in different strength sports and help train other people for competitions.”
