There will be no scheduled lessons on Wednesday 29th November for full-time 16-18 year old students due to a staff CPD day. A Level students will be in college as normal.
We caught up with Level 3 Fashion, Business and Communication student Rachel Callaghan, who has left Middlesbrough College this summer and is progressing to Manchester Metropolitan University to study for a degree in Fashion Communication!
She said, “I decided to come to Middlesbrough College because it was one of the only Colleges in the area that offered a fashion course that focused on the business side of things, not just design.
“The reimbursed train travel scheme at Middlesbrough College is great and allowed me to attend the College of my choice. I live out in Seaham, which is quite far away and takes 50 minutes on the train to Middlesbrough, so not having to worry about the cost of getting into College made things so much easier, and the travel time was definitely worth it.
“When I started, I didn’t really know anyone on my course, but everyone was so welcoming, and we all formed a lovely little friendship group by the end of College.
“My favourite part of the course was definitely completing my final project. I loved how much freedom I had, the possibilities were endless and I’m proud of the end result. I created ten fashion looks and turned them into filters on Snap AR using VR technology at the College. My teachers were fantastic, and I enjoyed learning from them.
“I’ve always had an interest in fashion, ever since I was little. I remember I always had to have a spare outfit with me everywhere I went! I’m very much looking forward to moving to Manchester and starting this next chapter. In the future I would love to work as a stylist, hopefully a celebrity stylist, or be working on runways with big name brands.
“If you have an interest in fashion, the fashion, business and communication course here at Middlesbrough College is a great option. It allows you to explore avenues outside of just design and the skills that you learn could lead to many different careers!”
