Meet Millie Carroll, the T Level Marketing student already making her mark!

Since the age of 13, Millie started helping with the marketing at her dad’s business. This inspired her journey into studying marketing at college and her love of learning in work environments. 

Fast-forward to today and she is studying T Level Marketing, a course that offers a unique combination of qualifications and actual work placement.   

“I was originally told to do A Levels and that was my plan; that was until I discovered the Marketing T Level. Middlesbrough College was the only college in the area offering it. 

“I attend networking events quite a lot and always ask people what they value most when hiring – qualifications or work experience. The answer was often that both are important. That’s what made T Levels so appealing to me. They offer the perfect balance of gaining industry experience while also achieving a recognised qualification that can lead to university if I choose that route. That’s when I knew a T Level was right for me. 

“Marketing isn’t a straightforward career path with just one destination. There are so many opportunities and transferable skills. Whether I move into project management, contract law, or another profession, the skills I’ve developed through marketing will always be valuable. It’s much broader and more flexible than I originally thought. 

“Laura and Zara are more than just tutors – they genuinely care about us and our futures. Everyone at Middlesbrough College is incredibly supportive. It’s not just about achieving good grades; it’s about helping you grow as a person and preparing you for life beyond college. 

“The experiences I’ve had through my course have been amazing. I’ve recently been offered the opportunity to travel to Thailand through the Turing Scheme, and I’ve also appeared on ITV News and BBC Radio Tees to talk about the Tees Heritage Walk.” 

Alongside her studies, Millie completed her industry placement within her dad’s business, where she has become an integral part of the team. 

“Before starting my T Level, I would help occasionally. Now I attend regularly and work as part of a team of four in the office. It has shown me what working life is really like and confirmed that I want a career in an office environment. I know that might not appeal to everyone, but I genuinely enjoy it.” 

When asked about her plans for the future Millie replied:  

“I’m looking into degree apprenticeships because they offer the same combination of learning and practical experience that attracted me to T Levels. There are so many pathways available to me, and I plan to continue speaking with professionals in the industry to help me make informed decisions about my future. 

“I’d absolutely recommend this course to anyone. I have already spoken to many people in networking events about how it could be the perfect option for them.”
