Matthew Mallett
Matthew enjoyed his time at Middlesbrough College so much he wanted to stay! Matthew studied Level 3 Network System and Security at Middlesbrough College and progressed to a Level 4 Network Engineer Apprenticeship, working in the Digital Services team at the College.
Matthew said: “I had such a great time studying here, completing my Level 3 course in Network and System Security, when I heard about the vacancy for the apprenticeship, I knew I had to apply and I’m so glad I did. I’ve only been on the apprenticeship for four months and I’ve already learned so much. Learning on the job has meant that I have had the opportunity to develop my skills as I go as well as learning the theory side of things.
“Looking back, I’m really glad I went for this apprenticeship after leaving College, because it gives me the opportunity to work, learn, grow and ask questions.
“Something I love about my current role is the job satisfaction that I get when I have completed a task, like fixing a computer issue that then means a teacher can carry on with their lesson. Recently, I was able to solve a College wide issue regarding the clock system and that was very rewarding.
“Once my apprenticeship ends, I would love to stay on at Middlesbrough College, the facilities are so modern, and it’s a great place to work. In the future I would love to progress onto a network security role, as it is a very important job, and there’s always lot of opportunities to progress!”
