“When I was in secondary school, we had an assembly and Middlesbrough College came in to speak to us about the courses on offer and sport really stood out to me, the facilities looked great and they offered some really great student perks so I applied straight away.
“I have always been a sporty person, I’ve been taking Judo classes since I was just four years old! A lot of my family take Judo classes which initially sparked my interest. I’m really passionate about it and love competing, in 2019 I won North East Athlete of the year and I am also the GB Judo National Champion.
“Over the summer I will be attending a Judo training camp in Italy to train for the youth Olympics which I’m really excited about! It will be a great experience and I’m looking forward to spending a summer in Italy.
“During my time at Middlesbrough College I have had the chance to take part in other sports, I was on the College football team which was great fun. I made so many new friends through that and it was a good laugh.
“Alongside my studies I’ve had the opportunity to do some Judo coaching as part of my work experience, I’ve been working with primary school children to teach them some basics and hopefully show them a new hobby.
“My teachers at College have been great! They are always so supportive and encouraging, I know I can always count on them to help me out with coursework and to support me through the course. The College overall is a great environment and there’s always plenty going on, I would recommend studying here.”
