Grace Scott
Level 3 Sport and Exercise Science student Grace Scott is coming to the end of her first year at Middlesbrough College.
She said, “It’s great here, I love it! There are so many enrichment opportunities. I recently went on a trip to Barcelona, it was amazing. We visited the Camp Nou stadium, the zoo and the amusement park.
“The teachers on my course are great, they’re all down to earth, but they have standards, which really helps to push me to do my best. They are also supportive and will help you anytime you have a problem.
“After College I’m hoping to go to University to continue my studies in Sports Science. I haven’t yet decided where I would like to go, but there are opportunities to visit Universities with the College, which is really helpful.”
In August Grace is hoping to go to Ghana to volunteer with young children and help in their educational development.
She said, “I’m hoping to go to Ghana with Projects Abroad, but there might also be an opportunity for me to go to Sri Lanka with Mighty Roar if I don’t reach my goal.
“I’m really looking forward to the experience. I will get the chance to work with underprivileged children teaching them basic maths, English and computer skills as well as getting them involved in sport and enrichment activities.
“I would love to work as a PE teacher one day, so this is an amazing opportunity to gain some experience, whilst also helping children who face a lack of opportunity in education. I will also be taking hygienic and educational equipment with me to allow for their continued development after my volunteering work is complete.”
