Overview

The Professional Graduate Certificate in Education is a professional teacher education programme that will qualify you to teach in the post-14 education sector. This includes further education colleges, adult and community settings and training providers.

Entry requirements

  • You must have achieved an honours degree, 2:2 or higher in a relevant subject and GCSE grade 4 (C) or equivalent in English.
  • You should also hold a current and valid Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS check) dated within one year from the point of enrolment.
  • You must also have had a teaching practice placement that offers you a minimum of 100 hours over the course of one year and a subject specific placement mentor.
  • Trainees should also complete a Level 2 qualification in mathematics before the end of the course if they do not already have this qualification.

 

You are assessed by a combination of written assessments, reflective teaching journals, teaching portfolios, and observations of your teaching practice.

On completion of this course you will have a PGCE which will allow you to gain employment in the post-14 education sector.

Fees payable direct to Middlesbrough College, £5,000 per year.
