Overview

This course is ideal for you if you are thinking about a career in the plumbing industry. You will develop an understanding of all aspects of the building services and study a range of topics including health and safety in construction, removing and refitting water-filled radiators, domestic drainage, copper piping systems, basic electrical circuits.

  • Removing and Refitting Water-Filled Radiators
  • Working with Non-Manipulative Fittings
  • Laying Underground Domestic Drainage
  • Bending and Jointing Copper Pipes 
  • Connecting Pipes and Fittings to Appliances 
  • Constructing Combined Frames  
  • Installing Rain Water Goods 
  • Working with Low Carbon Steel Pipes and Fittings
  • Assembling 13amp Switched Sockets Wired in Ring Final Circuit 
  • Constructing PVC Wiring Systems
  • Installing One Way Lighting Circuits

September - June

Entry requirements

You must have achieved an appropriate Entry Level vocational qualification and/or GCSEs at grade 2-1 or above.

You will be assessed through a combination of written exams and observations of practical tasks in the workshop.

You can progress onto the Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing or an apprenticeship if employment is gained with any plumbing employer.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

Construction

Explore Construction

Construction students will have the opportunity to work in state of the art workshops, and have access to a real life outdoor construction site. This realistic work environment allows students to gain practical experience in constructing a single story dwelling which is built from foundations up to the roof.
