Overview

This Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Brickwork provides the opportunity for individuals who specialise in Brickwork to demonstrate their competence, usually dictated by the type of work undertaken on site.

  • Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
  • Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
  • Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace
  • Erecting masonry structures in the workplace
  • Setting out masonry structures in the workplace
  • Placing and finishing non-specialist concrete in the workplace
  • Repairing and maintaining masonry structures in the workplace
  • Installing drainage in the workplace

4 days per week with your employer, 1 day per week at College.

Entry requirements

  • Employment in a suitable role for the chosen apprenticeship is essential. Northern Skills Group will work with applicants to help find a suitable employer where possible but we advise anyone looking to undertake an apprenticeship to actively seek employment for themselves.
  • Applicants are required to have gained a Level 2 English and maths (GCSE grades A-C). Certificates will need to be produced at enrolment. If proof cannot be produced or you do not meet these entry requirements then applicants will be invited to complete an initial assessment prior to  acceptance.
  • An interview will take place.
  • If you do not have a grade A-C in English and/or maths (grade 7-4 for new GCSE measures) you will be required to continue studying these subjects.

This qualification is assessed through site based evidence portfolio and knowledge question papers.

Achievement of this qualification will provide opportunities to progress to further qualifications and training such as the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Bricklaying or Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Work Supervision.

The College Careers Service is available to all our students. We can help you when deciding which course or option you wish to take. During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into higher education. When applying for university we can provide support with the UCAS application and Student Finance.

Apprentices are not liable for fees as these will be covered by your employer.

Explore Construction

Construction students will have the opportunity to work in state of the art workshops, and have access to a real life outdoor construction site. This realistic work environment allows students to gain practical experience in constructing a single story dwelling which is built from foundations up to the roof.
