Overview

This course provides you with a good quality introduction to the performing arts, equipping you with background theory and performance skills in specialist areas of performing arts.

The course looks at dance, singing and acting throughout the year. The course is practical and work related exploring dance, signing and acting throughout the year.

You will study professional development in the performing arts industry alongside skills, techniques and performance in dance, acting and musical theatre.

Entry requirements

You must have achieved an appropriate Level 1 vocational qualification and/ or GCSEs grade 3 (D) or above.

Assessment is in the form of 2 externally assessed units one written and one practical. Two units are internally assessed through written submissions, presentations, practical assessments and verbal discussions.

You can progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Performing Arts.

The College Careers Service is available to all our students. We can help you when deciding which course or option you wish to take. During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into higher education. When applying for university we can provide support with the UCAS application and Student Finance.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

Performance and Production Arts students will have access to an on-site 156 seat commercial theatre with full sound and lighting capabilities plus many modern rehearsal rooms. Here, students will get the chance to develop their confidence and professionalism in one of our many productions across the year, either performing on stage or supporting with the staging, sound and music.
