Overview

This course allows you to investigate the industry, exploring the range of careers available in travel and tourism. You will look at the UK as a holiday destination, whilst comparing it to long-haul travel destinations. You will investigate a range of travel related roles and careers and focus on specific industry sectors such as airlines and the cruise industry

September - June

Entry requirements

You should have achieved grades 4 and above in at least 5 GCSE’s (not equivalents), including a 4 or above in English language and maths.

Internal assessments will be carried out in a variety of ways including assignments, role plays and presentations. 

 

University opportunities
Past students have progressed to study degrees in travel and aviation, airport and airline management, tourism management, leisure and tourism, marketing and business.

 
Career opportunities
Career opportunities include holiday representative, tour manager, tourism officer, tourist information centre manager, travel agency manager, customer service manager, event manager, hotel manager, marketing executive and outdoor education manager.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

Travel, tourism & aviation students will have the opportunity to work in an on-site simulated aircraft cabin complete with seats, drinks, duty free trolleys and emergency life jackets.
