Overview

The Certificate in Education is a professional teacher education programme that will qualify you to teach in the post-14 education sector, e.g. further education colleges, adult and community settings and training providers. The course is designed to meet the ETF Professional Standards and will equip you with a toolkit to teach adults and young people. The qualification is open to those who hold a level 3 qualification in their intended subject specialism.

    Learning is face to face.

    Entry requirements

    • You must have achieved a Level 3 qualification in your intended subject specialism.
    • You are also required to have GCSE grade 4 (C) or above or equivalent in English.
    • You should also hold a current and valid Enchanced Discloure and Barring Service (DBS check) from the last three years, from the point of enrolment.
    • You must also have a teaching practice placement that offers you a minimum of 100 hours over the duration of the course and a subject specific placement mentor.
    •Trainees should also complete a Level 2 qualification in mathematics before the end of the course if they do not already have this qualification.

    You will be assessed through presentations, observation of teaching practice and a reflective journal.

    On completion of this course you will have a Certificate in Education which will allow you to gain employment in the post-14 education sector.

    Fees payable direct to Middlesbrough College, £2,100 per year.
