This course will introduce you to a wide variety of Films from around the world and across different production eras. You will learn the language of film and develop the ability to identify how a film is communicating and interpret the messages created. You will explore how stories are told, how characters are created and question why films from different countries and eras present these stories and characters.  To further your understanding of Film language, you will also develop film visualisation skills through creating your own film ideas through screenwriting, storyboards and film making.

Entry requirements

You must have achieved five GCSEs at grade 5 or above including maths. English literature at a grade 6 or above is desirable. Ideally an average GCSE points score of 5.5 or above.

Assessment is 30% NEA (non-examined assessment), 70% exam-based

University opportunities:
Past students have progressed to study degrees in media, film, English, sociology, psychology, creative writing, marketing, journalism, business, politics and education.

Career opportunities:
Film production, journalism, screen writing, graphic design, marketing, photography, teaching.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

All production equipment is available to loan from the college.

After receiving your application form you will be invited to attend an informal interview where you will have a chance to discuss which specific A Level subjects you would like to enrol on.
