GCSE mathematics is a one year course to enable students to obtain at least a grade 4 (C). The course covers number, algebra, statistics and geometry.

The course is taught at foundation level but opportunity to enter the higher level is available for students capable of independently studying at this level.

Entry requirements

You must provide evidence of obtaining a grade 3 (D) already in GCSE mathematics or equivalent.

You will be assessed by two written papers taken in June.

A grade 4 (C) in GCSE Mathematics is essential for many higher education courses and several careers including teaching, nursing, engineering and science related work.

The College Careers Service is available to all our students. We can help you when deciding which course or option you wish to take. During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into higher education. When applying for university we can provide support with the UCAS application and Student Finance.


The course is free to all students unless they have already achieved a grade 4 (C) or above for GCSE English language.
