Middlesbrough College is helping to launch young people’s careers with the Kickstart scheme. The brand new six month placement scheme is giving young people, who are currently in receipt of Universal Credit, the chance to be part of the major educational establishment.
The job creation element of the Treasury's economic recovery plans helps 16-25 year olds secure work experience and embark on a potential career.
Middlesbrough College has employed 38 young people across a range of roles including Welfare Support, IT, Digital, Business Admin and Marketing.
Trinity Phoenix, a Kickstart employee who is working in the Health & Safety department at the College said: “I’m really enjoying working at Middlesbrough College, the community here is lovely and friendly and everyone has made me feel so welcome.
“The scheme has been a fantastic opportunity for me and it has been great to expand my CV and have my first experience in the workplace. The College is great place for young people to work and has been an excellent introduction to working life.”
Adam Miller, who is working in the Marketing department at the College said: “The College is an excellent place to work. I’m really enjoying my role and I’m excited to work on our upcoming projects. I’m a TV and Film production graduate so it’s been fantastic to put the skills from my degree into practice, working on social media content and videos.”
Kai Collins, another employee who is working in Business Administration said: “I absolutely love working here! I think the scheme is fantastic and is allowing me to gain the experience I need to progress in my career.”
Zoe Lewis, Principal and Chief Executive of Middlesbrough College said: “We’re really excited to welcome fresh young talent to Middlesbrough College. We will support them as they start their careers and grow as young professionals.”
