Community Christmas care

27 November 2020

Health & Care students from Middlesbrough College are getting ready to spread Christmas cheer to local Teesside care homes.

The Level 1 Health & Care students are creating Christmas cards to send to residents in care homes across the region in order to bring joy and light in these unsettling times.

Middlesbrough College’s work placement team will be delivering the cards to the care homes in December to kick start the festive season.

Angeline McSherry, the curriculum Team Leader for Health and Social Care at Middlesbrough College said: “We wanted to do something to help those who could be suffering from loneliness due to the pandemic this Christmas.

“All of my Level 1 students have been creating these cards to cheer people up in what has been a very difficult and strange year for many. This fun activity has also helped to bridge the gap between the older and the younger generation, showing how everyone has been affected by this year.

“We hope that it helps to bring festive cheer and a smile to everyone’s face!”

KC-Mai Christian, a Level 1 Health & Care student at Middlesbrough College said: “The whole class has loved creating the cards. It has been a really fun activity to do and I’m looking forward to hearing the responses from the residents in the care homes.

“I hope that it makes people feel special during Christmas.”
