On Tuesday 11th June, a range of employers were invited into Middlesbrough College for a showcase of student’s work from Computing, Animation and VFX programmes.
Local businesses including Mabo Media, Jacobs, Double Eleven and Sock Monkey came along to meet their potential future employees and were very impressed with the student’s work.
One employer said “It was a great opportunity to see and speak to students and engage with them. I was amazed with the quality of work they have produced! It was fantastic to see students at age 17-18 achieving real skills that they will need when they get into industry. I could pick up some of these students and take them straight to the office.”
Local digital employer Mabo Media said “It was a great opportunity to speak with students about their work and life in the digital sector. I was really impressed with the quality of work they had produced, they’re clearly gaining vital skills on the college’s programme that will benefit them when they go out to industry.”
The students on the Computing, Animation and VFX programmes also enjoyed showcasing their work to their potential future bosses.
One student said “It was so good to hear about what I might be doing once I enter the digital industry and the opportunities available! It’s also exciting to hear about how my course at College is helping to get me there.”
Middlesbrough College offers a wide range of digital courses in Computing, Games Design and Media from Level 1 to degree level study. The College is also just one of 14 in the country to be a NextGen partner, and offers a cutting edge course for learners hungry for a career in the games design, animation and visual effects industries. The College’s facilities include a large apple iMac suite with state of the art computer software, creative media workshops and games design studios with the latest 3D design packages and game engines.
