Fundraising to help families

19 December 2018

Our childcare students at Middlesbrough College are doing everything they can this year to fundraise for their chosen charity of the year- the Solan Connor Fawcett Family Cancer Trust.

The small charity based in Spennymoor supports local families affected by cancer. Their aim is to help improve the quality of life of those affected by cancer locally, providing help, advice and treatment rooms for people who need to escape or relax from the turmoil that cancer can bring. The money raised goes towards purchasing special equipment for families or doing special activities such as enjoying a short break away, a day out or even visiting a beautician or hairdresser.

From sponsored walks to Roseberry Topping dressed as superhero’s, Pyjama days at College, raffles,  and of course lots of much loved bake sales, our Level 2 and Level 3 childcare students have been coming up with fun ways to fundraise for this special charity.

The students also hosted a stall at the College’s annual Christmas market, here staff, students and the general public enjoyed purchasing  hot chocolates topped with whipped cream and marshmallows, playing festive games and buying some delicious chocolates and stunning decorations, all to support the Solan Connor Fawcett Family Cancer Trust.

With £1,462.34 raised so far and a donation made just in time for Christmas, the students are confident that they will raise lots more money for this deserving local charity throughout the year.
