Beauty student Holly Boyce has landed her perfect job after impressing hotel managers during a treatment at the College spa.
Describing Holly’s treatment as ‘the best massage they have ever had’, hotel managers at the Raithwaite Hotel, Sandsend were so impressed that they recommended the 18-year-old to spa staff at the four-star hotel.
Holly was then offered a weekend position providing treatments to guests including full body massages, express facials and body scrubs.
On completion of her Level 3 Beauty and spa Therapy Diploma, the former Nunthorpe Academy student will take up a full-time role at the hotels on-site spa.
Holly currently lives in Martin but has plans to move to Whitby over the Summer to be closer to work.
She said: “I’ve always had an interest in beauty therapy and had heard good reviews about the College’s beauty department from previous students.
“The course has really built up my confidence working on real clients and the products we use are the same as industry which has been really helpful in my new job.”
Sandie Owens, Lecturer of Beauty Therapy said: “The fact that Holly wasn’t asked to complete a trial shift or interview but was hired solely on the quality of her treatment is very impressive.
“There is a lot of competition for beauty therapists in the hotel industry and it’s amazing to see Holly walk straight into a job, before she has even completed her studies!”
