They have a total 47 sites and employ more than 8,500 staff around the globe.

ElringKlinger (GB) Ltd based in Redcar, is the only UK manufacturing site for the Elring Klinger Group and has been in the Tees Valley for over 50 years. The group has been investing in the development of future engineers for a number of years and staring in September 2017, will be sponsoring a number of full-time students at Middlesbrough College on a 12 month ‘Routeway to Engineering Apprenticeship’ programme. At the end of the programme they aim to select and recruit a number of successful students to progress onto the EKGB Technical & Engineering Apprenticeship Programme.

As a sponsored student on the Elring Klinger ‘Routeway to Engineering Apprenticeship’ programme, you will become a brand ambassador for Elring Klinger and receive branded clothing making you feel part of the team. You will also have regular visits from the Elring Klinger team who will check in and see how you are progressing, making sure you are on the right track to success. During your time at Middlesbrough College you will learn the engineering basics required for a career in this field as well as starting a level 2 technical certificate in engineering. You will also have the opportunity to gain work experience at the EKGB manufacturing site in Redcar. EKGB will provide support for this with a small sponsorship sum of money to use towards expenses such as travel costs.

At the end of 12-month routeway programme and apprenticeship selection process, successful students will be employed directly by EK as an Advanced Apprentice on an official Apprenticeship Agreement for a further 3 years (minimum). This will involve spending time at both the college and the EKGB site gaining formal qualifications and real hands on experience in our Technical/Engineering Department’s where you will be working alongside skilled members of the workforce.

The Elring Klinger GB Technical & Engineering Apprenticeship programme can lead to specific roles including:

  • Apprentice Multi Skilled Maintenance Technician 
  • Apprentice Tool Room Technician 
  • Apprentice Engineer 
  • Apprentice Setter Operator 
  • Apprentice Quality / Metrology Engineer 
  • Apprentice Technical Support (CAD/Testing/Packaging)

Minimum entry requirements needed from applicants:

  • Applicants must have 5 GCSE’s Grade C or above (or equivalent) including Maths, Science & English – or be projected to attain these results in Summer 2017

Skills & personal qualities needed from applicants:

  • Highly motivated to develop career within Engineering 
  • Applicants must have good practical / hand skills 
  • Basic knowledge / understanding of engineering principles 
  • Initiative 
  • Be a good team player 
  • Good communication 
  • Good timekeeping & attendance record 
  • Problem solving skills 
  • Good awareness of H&S
