Sharon Lane

Co-opted Governor

Sub Committee: Curriculum and Standards; Employer Voice and Engagement

Link Governor for Employer Voice, Employer Advisory Board & TTE Employer Advisory Board

Sharon became a Governor in 2018, having worked previously with the College in an advisory capacity for the STEM Centre.  Sharon is Managing Director of Tees Components, a medium-sized engineering firm in East Cleveland. As a former apprentice herself, she is motivated to ensure that apprenticeships succeed for both learners and employers, and she also has the experience of part-time study, having gained her BEng and MBA by part-time and distance learning.

Sharon has spent all her working life in Teesside and is a passionate advocate of the region, using regional and national networking events and public speaking opportunities to ensure that all its strengths and opportunities are promoted. In 2018 she was very proud to win Teesside’s Business Executive of the Year award, and will build from this to continue promoting the region to the best of her ability. Sharon is also keen to ensure STEM opportunities are available to and maximised by all of our demographic, and in particular works with girls and young women to highlight STEM careers.

Sharon also is a member of the Curriculum and Standards Committee and wants to work with the College to ensure that it remains at the forefront of further education for Middlesbrough and the wider area.
