Subcommittee: Audit and Risk; Employer Voice and Engagement

Mark is the Head of Engineering & Maintenance at AV Dawson’s Port of Middlesbrough. He is an engineering professional with a demonstrated history of working within Offshore, Steel & Multimodal Industries. Mark served an apprenticeship as a mechanical fitter for Harsco Metals & Minerals based at Teesside steel works, including a year at TTE. He also worked for Harsco Metals & Minerals for 19 years progressing to Engineering Supervisor and gaining a HNC and 1st class Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng) (Hons). 

Mark spent almost 4 years offshore specialising in engineering and maintenance of offshore cranes before joining AV Dawson as their Head of Engineering and Maintenance in March 2017. During this time at AV Dawson, he gained an MBA, and Fellowship status with the Chartered Management Institute (CMgr FCMI). 

Mark is always positive and enjoy learning and improving through both personal and professional development. He mentors colleagues as part of the AV Dawson Leadership Academy and has a real passion for inspiring people. He often speaks at schools, colleges and industry events championing people to follow their interests and achieve their goals. 

Having spent 30 years working in some of the most dangerous and hazardous environments, Mark believes he has the skills and knowledge to offer support to the Audit and Risk & Employer Voice and Engagement Committee’s.
